Smedley Signs For Aspire PFC

Aspire PFC are delighted to announce the signing of young winger Oscar Smedley. 

The 16-year-old joins the club following a successful trial, and his departure from GBG Knights. 

In the Knights’ 2024/25 promotion season from the Championship, Smedley notched an incredible 36 goal contributions.

Last campaign, Oscar was played in a more defensive role as GBG battled for survival in the Premiership. 

Smedley is a talented attacking player, with a powerful strike and excellent passing range, as well as a keen eye for goal. 

We are delighted that Oscar feels that Aspire is the right place to continue his development.

He is also on the England pathway, and we look forward to supporting his continued improvement across this season and beyond.

Oscar Smedley said: “I was so excited to be invited to join Aspire PFC. Aspire is a brilliant team and I feel so lucky that I’ll be able to learn from some of the best players in the league. 

“I can’t wait to get started and to continue to develop over the coming season.”

Newly-appointed Aspire captain, Dan Mclellan, said: “Oscar has been a fantastic addition to our first team squad already. He was a player we had our eye on for a while and we were really glad that we were able to secure him for this season.

"He has shown huge potential in his first few training sessions and I’m so excited to see the levels he can reach in the future."

Oscar will wear the number ten shirt for Aspire PFC this season. 

The first opportunity to see him in action for the team will be at the Madeleine Steel Invitational tournament on Sunday, August 23rd.
