Aspire PFC are delighted to announce the signing of Matt Gilbert following his departure from West Bromwich Albion.
Gilbert is an incredibly experienced player, with years of experience at competing at the very top of the domestic game.
He has also represented WBA on the international stage, playing at both the EPFA Champions Cup and FIPFA Club World Cup.
Gilbert began St George's Knights, and also represented Nottinghamshire PFC before making the ambitious move to West Bromwich Albion.
Gilbert is a top wide player, and scored plenty of goals at WBA, including in 2022/23 in which he scored 23 goals and was Premiership second top goalscorer.
He has won five Premiership titles, and four WFA Cups - an esteemed trophy cabinet that he will hopefully add to with Aspire.
This year, Gilbert was selected to represent England at the Senior EPFA Home Nations tournament in Largs, Scotland.
Matt Gilbert said: "I’m delighted to be joining such a accomplished team like Aspire PFC. I’m excited for the new challenge ahead playing alongside a great squad. The hard work starts now!"
Aspire manager Jon Bolding said: "I am so pleased that we managed to sign Gilly. He has been playing football at the highest level for so many years now and experience is something you cannot buy.
"Adding him to the team will provide us with more attacking threat that we know he posses and the experience he has will only add to the experience currently in the squad. We cannot wait to see Gilly continue to produce this season"
Gilbert will wear the number nine for Aspire. We look forward to seeing him in action at the Madeleine Steel Invitational on Sunday 23rd August.
